Life: Europa Gaunt (mother) used a love potion on a man named Tom Riddle who possessed no magic what-so-ever. The effects soon wore off and Tom left the witch poor and alone with a son on the way. Shortly before dying, she gave birth to her baby in an orphanage, specifying that he was to be named Tom (for his father) Marvolo (for his grandfather) Riddle. Young Tom soon became bitter in his miserable life at the worn down orphanage. He caused strange, unexplained accidents over the years until a man by the name of Albus Dumbledore came, offering him a scholarship to his school. Dumbledore explained to Tom that he was a wizard. In his time at Hogwarts Tom excelled in academics, surpassed only by Dumbledore in skill. As the years passed Tom's lust for power grew alongside his fear of death. Upon leaving Hogwarts he took on the name Lord Voldemort and began building his dark army. He underwent several dangerous magical transformations to make his body strong and impervious to disease. But his greatest defenses were the Horcruxes he made. These objects contained a piece of his sole and as long as they remained unharmed he could not die. Shortly after overthrowing the Ministry of Magic, all of Voldemort's Horcruxes were destroyed and he was killed by Harry Potter through a complex string of events. |
