Rainbow Six

Rainbow Six is a first person tactical shooter that puts the player in charge of a counter-terroism unit. The unit is comprised on special forces from different NATO countries. The games are based off of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six books. Originally developed by Red Storm Entertainment the game is now developed and published by Ubisoft. The game tends to have more close quarter combat then Ghost Recon and usally takes place inside buildings. Starting in 1998 the Rainbow Six franchise is Tom Clancy's oldest game series. The game has evolved a lot since it started making it a unique edition to the Tom Clancy franchise.

Rainbow Six was released in 1998 for the PC and was later ported to Mac, N64, Playstation, and Dreamcast. The game simulated real hostage and terroist situations. The game was was focused more on stealth and planning then just run and gun. Rainbow Six has just been formed and you are sent to deal with eco-terroist that have invented a virus that will wipe out the human race to save mother earth. An expansion pack was later released.

Rainbow Six Lockdown came with a change. The game now has more of a combat appeal but still requires planning and good use of your sqaud. The maps become more linear and gave the player the option to save at anytime. The story stayed similar in the way that there is another terroist group with a deadly virus.

Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 revolutionized the series. Released in 2007 and 2008 they brought new gameplay options to the franchise. With increased weapon customization, character customization, and a new cover system the game felt fresh. The story brought the game to Vegas where terroist were making their move and a mole has been discovered in the agency.
