Beginning Priest

Halford's History

Rob Halford is best known for his insane stage antics, amazing voice, and stage performance with his best and most successful band Judas Priest. It all started in 1974 when Halford was asked to join the band by bassist Ian Hill and guitarist K.K. Downing. This was the start of something great. Later in that year, guitarist Glenn Tipton was also asked to join the band. They went through a few different drummers during their starting period, such as Dave Holland who recorded six different albums, two of which were their most famous albums, British Steel (1980) and Screaming for Vengeance (1982), but he later quit and they eventually found Scott Travis in 1989 who stuck with them and has been their drummer since then. With Travis they recorded many other huge albums, but sadly in 1991 Halford left the band due to indications of internal tensions within the band. He started some other pretty good bands such as Fight, 2wo and Halford. But none were as good or as successful as Priest. During his time away, a Priest cover band singer and fan, Tim "Ripper" Owens took his place and created two new albums with the band until 2003 when Halford returned. Since his come back into Priest, they have recorded two more albums, Angel of Retribution (2005) and Nostradamus (2008), and hopefully many more to come. It is now 2010 and they are still touring and rocking out just as good as ever.
